I being a young lad of under 20, working one day a week in my all so small town's only cd store, while trying to maintain an addiction of noise, and working backwards to reach a state of musical guruness, have no funds for a set of head phones. The last pair i had died a few years ago. I have recently acquired both the Olivia tremor control albums, but yet to listen to them with a pair of head phones on. I was just curious on what were some noticeable differences, and what’s the more enjoyable experience: cut off from the rest of the world with a pair of headphones, or blaring it for all to hear.

I rarely listen to music on headphones; but I have noticed than pretty much every OTC release (BSN and Circ. System too) sounds infinitely better on them. I can't really explain it though, probably the intricacy and finer detail in the production that you don't tend to hear through speakers; or maybe it's that the intentions of the album are for it to be an intensely involving personal experience, as opposed to a shared one like, say, house music (Black Foliage reminds me of a rather intense trip, as I'm sure it does for others, plus those continuing dream themes back up this theory a little).

That sucks. Mine have started to cut out on one side, so I really need to get some new ones soon. In the meantime, I've been able to mess with the cord enough to get them to work most of the time. I absolutely can't enjoy music anywhere near as much when it's played through speakers...

as mine were nearing the end i had to tape the head pieces to the holder on both sides. it was some of the most amazing ghettoness that i have experienced.

speaking of blaring music, has anyone ever overheard someone blaring any e6 stuff from a car or something? that would be pretty neat. although, as a rule, i hate when people blast their music for all to hear. even though i'm guilty of doing just that. i like my music loud. and headphones are great and full of surprises.

i think if i ever heard anyone playing e6 on the street i would go up and knock on there door and start up a lovely conversation with them.

Bands like Olivia Tremor Control are meant to be listened to on headphones. I find myself going "hey, what was that?" and rewinding it, and I never do that with headphones because the foreground noise completely swallows the background noises which can have some surprises details.

I can recognize otc's deep, 3-D sound without head phones... It's a gift for me from God....Thanks to it, my sense of hearing is *so sensitive* that I perceive all slander I don't wanna hear.

Headphones and speakers. but not boomboxes. Seperated speakers on both sides of the room is amazing. it fills the whole room and pretty much surrounds you with it. You look in both directions constantly. It's lovely. Headphones on a quite day or night. it amplifies the scenery. It's a perfect soundtrack. I play e6 on the street. I walk around with an ghettoblaster (circa 1980) playing The Explination II at full volume.
