I don't know if this was ever mentioned, but below is a link to an Elliot Smith website with an mp3 of him covering the minders "hooray for tuesday" - I think it's pretty awesome!

i read on an elliott smith website that he played acoustic guitar on the song 'the loneliest of faces' from the down in fall EP. he is credited as 'leicester myth'

That is correct. He came over to the studio during the recording of the EP and played guitar for that song.

i haven't heard the earlimart song...but i know the album is a homage to elliott smith...the singer and elliott were good friends and elliott actually cowrote a couple of the songs on the album...now what the album itself, or the band for that matter, sound like, i have no idea.

i guess i would be pissed if they weren't friends when he was still alive. but they were friends. and they recorded it in his studio (i believe) and he cowrote some songs (i believe) so there ya go. i haven't heard it yet, so i have no comment on whether or not it's good, but i think it's unfair to say they are robbin' his grave.

Speaking of Steven Elliott Smith, has anyone heard that Earlimart song "Heaven Adores You?" Such a shameless rip off...their video consists of stop action images obfuscated by decor, so I at first thought it was a posthumous Elliott Smith song. Everything about it screams "rip off." The vocals ape his angelic whisper, the lyrics are strikingly similar, and the delivery is pure Elliott. They might call it a tribute, but I call it grave robbery.
I hate that my first post is a corrective one, but his name is Steven Paul Smith. He started calling himself Elliott in high school because he thought Steve sounded too jockish, lol.
