Sasha Bell's The Finishing School - Coming This September!

Hey Everyone,

Straight from the Telegraph press office...

Sasha Bell’s The Finishing School – Destination Girl. Street date 9/23

Sasha Bell’s The Finishing School educates us with the purest outpouring of lilting loveliness presented to our ears all year. Known for her songwriting, flute and vocal work with pop-folk-experimentalists The Ladybug Transistor and The Essex Green, Destination Girl is her first solo outing. Recorded earlier this year in Sweden (where she has a remarkably strong fan base), the mellow melodies bring sweet surprise with every track, where sweeping strings and pulsating organ lines contribute to the unique sound over which her voice sweetly soars. Sasha’s natural, easy charm glides through and through this record of multi-layered, country-folk-tinged pop songs. Sasha Bell’s The Finishing School is pure unmitigated joy, although occasionally bittersweet, as life can be. Old-fashioned and simultaneously forward-thinking, Destination Girl announces Sasha’s graduation to the next class.

This CD comes with a bonus DVD with some really great videos and other goodies.

Also, Sasha is playing a month long residency at The Knitting Factory in NYC. Every Thursday in July you can see Sasha perform songs from The Finishing School with a band that includes Ladybug Transitor mates Jeff Baron and Julia Rydholm.

See ya there!!!

and my only complaint was that it was way too short.

Although I've been a fan of Essex Green/Ladybug Transistor, for quite some time this was the first live show I'd seen of any incarnation of these bands.

The music was fantastic and Sasha proves herself to be a terrific leader. The rest of the band shines also. All seemed to be having a great time.

Does anyone know who the drummer is ? This guy blew me away.

The show ended with a rousing rendition of Mendocino, which I believe is a cover. (Doug Sahm, maybe ?)

BTW, I had the pleasure to meet both Sasha and Julia and they are very warm and friendly people.

Looking forward to the release of the album.
