pretty sad and confusing that more people don't get into this kick fucking ass band. their two albums are two of my favorites. reminds me of a story i heard from a gerbil concert goer that was one out of 8 in attendance. a couple of people in the crowd kept shouting for nmh songs. scott finally said they had one song left and after another shout for nmh he just set down his guitar and walked off. pretty sad and annoying. anyway i'm probably just talking to myself now anyway, so how are you me. okay. how are you. okay. okay.

This message board is lovely, I don't think I've been here before...

But the Gerbils are wonderful, and I don't think they get the attention they deserve. It's a real shame to hear that NMH story, and the sad fact is that all four band members will have to put up with that for pretty much their whole careers - I wouldn't be all that suprised to hear people shout the same at Music Tapes, Bablicon, Circulatory System, Hawk & A Hacksaw gigs and so on. All because they made absolutely wonderful music.

See what you did there, le chimp? You brought posts and love to the Gerbils message board, and for that I salute you!

I don't understand why people do stuff like that! I always get really embarassed when people shout stuff out like that at shows. Its inevitable though.. it always happens at Guided By Voices shows...

aw shucks, dolemites sister, it was nothing. i know what you mean about gbv shows. the worst is when they jump on stage and start singing along. pollard's too cool/drunk to care but i hate it. i was also at a mt erie show not too long ago and people kept shouting out mirah songs. mirah songs for chrissakes. and not just mirah songs but questions about mirah, like what she's doing, where she is, etc. it takes all kinds, i guess.

That's awesome! The Gerbils were the 3rd e6 band I'd ever heard!

Hey le chimp! Are you going to any of the GBV last shows? They will be doozies I'm sure!

i'm sure i will go see some show, i just don't know which yet. i saw them up in my neck of the woods two months ago and apparently that was there last trip up here. i was surprised and bummed out they didn't include another date around me. i was going to get tickets to their final show in chicago but they sold out in about a half hour. my friend was in line as soon as tickets came out but unfortunately so were a couple hundred alan jackson fans. he was about 15 minutes too late. how about you? which show? doozies indeed.

The Athens GA show on Sept 29.. I can't wait.. Pollard loves playing in Athens so it is sure to be a big drunken GBV love fest!

Lets just say I won't be going to work on the 30th... :)

I hate it when people shout out for the hit single or songs from previous bands because it makes me feel like I'm part of a lousy audience. I've been to a Ben Folds show where this guy kept yelling "Brick!" and a Stephen Malkmus show where this guy kept shouting "Cut your hair! Box Elder!" It actually made me embarrassed even though I didn't do anything wrong. However, I was at an Adam Green show and no one shouted out for a Moldy Peaches song, which kind of made me proud in a way -- proud of my fellow audience members. Does anyone else feel this way?
