I hope nobody takes this wrong, but I work with special needs kids in Middle School. I feel horrible that so many people go through what should be a great period of their life so distressed. I work with kids who fortunatly have been refered and identified as have some of the problems you all have described. It's best to try to get it fixed at the younger ages because your development at that stage is crucial and burying it away always leads to a recurrance of problems later of some sort. I hate to sound the end of a very special episode of Family Ties, but if you're in school and have this sort of thing going on, you need to get together with your school counselor or special services teacher. It can be more serious than you think. Again just trying to help, hope its taken that way.
P.S. this was meant to go under the other topic.;)

When I was in Middle School (just last year :o) for 8th grade I was in special education Math, and Science. I also was in some special needs Social Skills class because I had no friends.

i think that seperating kids with problems and futher alienates them from the "normal" children. i personally don't think its the right way to handle the situation. yes, certain children may need extra help with certain subjects, granted. i think this come about because we place a huge needed on having a well rounded education. ok ok we have to learn all subjects but i think there can be a limit. certain kids can't grasp certain things no matter how much one tries to teach them. they should be allowed to develop those areas that they are good at.
i'll stop now....

I'm homeschooled now. None of the schools in my area are good at all, and I could never afford a private school - most of them are religous anyway. I was never good at math, or science. I could never understand it. I never will probably. I was always very good at reading, and history though.
