mildly interesting (from sup magazine):

SUP: What inspires you besides the Beatles and Jay Z?

DM: Right now I'm very much into a lot of psychedelic and prog stuff like Can. I also like obvious stuff like Isaac Hayes, Pink Floyd, and Hendrix. A less obvious choice would be Louis Armstrong. Prince Paul and the Beatminerz are two of my biggest influences in hip-hop. I also like Olivia Tremor Control a lot.

SUP: Oh yeah, you're from Athens.

DM: Yeah, I lived there for six years before I moved to London for a couple years. Athens had a big influence on me. That's where I got into all the psychedelic experimental stuff. I worked with John Fernandes from the Olivia Tremor Control at the record store there [Wuxtry] and he'd give me tons of stuff to listen to. I was a straight up hip-hop kid when I got there but years later there was so much more to it....

A friend of mine gave me The Grey Album but I never listened to it... I'm kind of afraid, being a big JayZ hater.

Anyone else think of this when coming into this thread...

tough reply to follow. but, it's weird because i just saw a dangermouse cd laying around my place (one of my friends must have left it i guess, i've never seen it before) and popped it in and was really afraid at first but i didn't mind it at all, in fact i kind of liked it. however the best i could do was to skip around and listen to the first thirty seconds or so of each song. but it wasn't bad or irritating or anything. oh, and then later i also had some hot fancies of john fernandes too.
