The Conservation Community

Being as the Orange Twin website hasn't been updated about this for yonks, I was just wondering, prithee, how one is to go about joining the Conservation Community? I'd really love to join them after I finish university, so any info would be appreciated :)

I don't know if they're looking for new members or how they've set up their community exactly. If you're interested in joining an intentional community of some sort, though, check out: www.ic.org

i am also interested, if anyone has any additional info... we're planning on making a trip there at the end of june...

I don't think we'll get in too easily to live, although apparently it's open to have picnics on. Here's some interesting stuff I found:

well. i'm probably going to email the people that need to get emailed probably in july when my travel plans are solidified. i dont know anyone that lives there.... so i wouldnt want to impose on them. you know? "sooo.... we are really in love with the 'scene' here and we wanna come and crash your house. cool?" yea.. thats not going to work.

i am moving to athens in fall 2008 so i have to figure out where i am going to live. i'd really love to live at a co-op. i tried to live at one here but i was completely turned off by their fake hippism. but i am definitely going to try to explore that option if they are into me. it just seems like all the signs are pointing in that direction.

Hey Y'all!
..So here's the deal with the OTCC.. We can't really have visitors on the property without the attendance of an OTCC member. Seeing as we all tend to be really busy all the time, it's kind-of impossible to schedule time for everybody to come out and see the place... SO we've been scheduling these volunteer worksessions periodically. These typically occur on Saturdays, and we all get together around, say, 11 AM and garden and move things around and work on various ongoing projects, and hang out and eat potluck lunch and there are a bunch of us around to answer questions and generally hang out. Based what y'all are saying in this string of posts, I think probably we'll schedule one during Popfest if y'all would be interested. These work sessions are also important if you're interested in membership... If you were to become a member we'd be doing a good deal of work together in the future, so it's a good idea.. y'know. As far as staying on the land in the sense of sleeping and stuff, we simply cannot accomodate all the folks who are interested in doing that. If you're interested in coming to a workday, email village@orangetwin.com and we'll put your email address on our mailing list, and I'll try to remember to post workdays here, too. Awesome. It's really awesome to have the support of all y'all with this project. It's growing so fast and in such an amazing way and I hope y'all can come check it out sometime.
