Hello everyone! A friend of mine gave me an all death metal and circus music mixtape, and in return I'm making him the absolute poppiest, most twee jump-up-and-down tape I can. I do have a theme though...if anyone has ideas for indiepop songs about death, funerals, corpses, necrophilia, etc etc (besides Chrissy Kissed a Corpse, which has already made the cut), do post them!

Hehe, it seems like a very hard project to find a lot of happy indiepop about Death, but try some from the Microphones, e.g. The Glow pt 2 (the song from the record with the same name). It's not thay happy though. You could also try In the Aeroplane Over The Sea with Neutral Milk Hotel (the song from the record with the same name), though the death connection isn't really that obvious on that song. Two-headed boy pt. 2 touches the subject too (heck, the whole albums does).
So that's my advice! Clear, ehh? ;)

as far as of montreal goes you could keep the 'death hits' a comin:
death dance of omipapas and sons for you
old people in the cemetary
etc

I think that the International Submarine Band's song (Gram Parsons) "Miller's Cave" is a good song kind of about death. Its upbeat, got that country twang, although they didn't write it, their version is awesome.

war on war - wilco
do you realise - flaming lips
there'll be time enough for sleeping when you're dead - magnetic fields
most songs from the moon and antartica by modest mouse
forever - circulatory system
elf power - half of their songs
blur - half the new album
100% - sonic youth
in heaven - pixies
heaven - rolling stones
1st song on the new smog album
let's go crazy, 1999 - prince
spinal menengitis - ween

not all these songs are gleeful, but i don't think they are morbid.

thanks a lot everyone! i think i'll just make one side about death, and the other about robots or something...oh, and friend, i think that magnetic fields song is really called 'time enough for rocking when we're old,' and i think i'm going to use 'the one you really love' instead, because it has the word 'corpse' in it...stephin merrit describes it as 'a campfire song with the word corpse in it.'
thanks again!
