great show last night. depressingly short set (30 min. max) but a great selection of tunes from the new album as well as a few older songs and even a 'sixth great lake' song. ben crum from great lakes is on bass, and the drummer was introduced as 'chuckwagon' and did a nice job. i incourage everyone to support this tour and the wonderful new album!

Only thirty minutes huh? I was considering driving to Chicago to see the show, but that is five hours away and thirty minutes, I don't know if it is worth it.

thats a long way. i can't say i haven't driven further for a show though, as i've driven 12 hours for shows on a couple of occasions.
the essex green are wonderful live though and maybe they'll play longer in chicago. the show here was on sunday and there weren't really many people there.

Hmmm.. I really got to think about this one. I have seen them before (last year), but I love their new album and really want to hear some of that stuff live, and if they played some sixth great lakes stuff that would be amazing. Oh I don't know?

They were having a lot of fun in Chattanooga. They played for a little over an hour including a jam of tinker that somehow ended up into a cover of Doug Sahm's Mendocino. See other chattanooga topics.

Ben loves Chattanooga... When I was talking to him after the show, he was going on and on about this place... He had so much fun at the Great Lakes show, and this one..

Who knew?

Not me! :)

I wish I had of recorded the Great lakes show. I had never been to lamar's and didn't know what it would be like. I'm not afraid anymore, except for slow bar service. Y'all need to sell beer inside the back room.

Hehe... We have been bringing beer in for the bands, but at Songs: Ohia they got busted and they made them take it out..

That's the worse thing about Lamar's... YOu can stand in the beer line for a very very long time... They need another bar.. you are right..

I wish our Great Lakes video had turned out better... Do you want a copy anyway?

I knew the bar situation, so on my first beer i tipped 150%. My second beer I tipped 100%. And I still couldn't get the guy to acknowledge my presence at the bar. When someone tips like that, you need to at least acknowledge them while you are waiting on other customers. "Sir, I'll be right with you", or something. Those guys move around like dinosaurs. At "Songs" I bought my beers 2 at a time, and even considered bribing someone next to me to go buy me one so i wouldn't have to leave from watching the show.

When there's a 45 minute show, and you miss one whole song because you're waiting on 2 dinosaurs to wait on you, that's pretty bad. Next time I'm going to just straight bring in some whiskey in my pocket.
