Yes, I'm gonna be annoying and ask the same question here aswell! Oh, I'll let you all have a 'closely followed by' song choice too, 'cos I'm kind like that.
I'd have to say my all time favourite is:
"I Have Been Floated"
Amazing song!
Closely followed by:
"Courtyard"

I love the singing-saw at the end of NYC-25, but have trouble picking a fave from so many great choices. Grass Cannons from Black Foliage is great also.

if i had a gun to my head i'd probably say i have been floated. but then the gunman would probably say "you're lying it's courtyard!", and then pull the trigger. but then i'd explain to st. peter that i never skipped around on either album so the killer could never have conclusively decided that i was in fact lying. i always listen to both albums from start to finish. the guy was probably just a jerk with a bad childhood and never really cared what my favorite otc song was to begin with.
le chimp, I like your style.
All of my favourite OTC songs are nicely contained within side 4 of Black Foliage.

i still don't know titles; the tape i have of them isn't labelled.
what song goes:
"don't sleep too long...cos everything you need is right here.."
(if it's actually CALLED 'dont sleep too long' that'd be sort of embarassing..)
That's the last song on "Dusk at Cubist Castle"!... I've forgotten that title, either.
"NYC...something", I suppose.

When I listen to OTC I tend not to decipher between songs..but rather I prefer sections or strings of songs. But Grass Canyons, New Day, and Mystery stand alone well as songs.

that's the one. & what's the one, it's on that singles type CD? that starts with the clock chimes? I kept thinking that might be the clock over by North Franklin street.
That's "Christmas with william S.", I suppose. William S means Willam. S. Barrows, I think.

its too hard to choose a favorite. when i think of the otc i dont really just think of one song as much as i think of their albums as a whole.

1. Courtyard
2. Jumping Fences
3. California Demise Pt. 3
4. No Growing (Exegesis)
5. Green Typewriters IV
right now, california demise pt3.
they shoud've written on the sleeve, "please send a cassette, but NO female nerds, NO female dogs." otherwise, "Dogs must stay away from us and just pay for the album"
i've been thinking to sell Bright Eye's album *RARE* record (with a serial number!! :o) someday he gets more popular, jacking up the price more than that.
happy birt......oh no, happy new year to you all.

Lately, I've really been diggin "Another Set of Bees in the Museum", but I've always been quite partial to "Holiday Surprise 1,2, and 3." The guitar lick during the last breakdown in the song is one of the most badass things I've ever heard.
Picking a favorite song by this band is such a painful task, they're all so glorius.

I may have already posted in this thread, but it was so long ago that my choices have probably changed. Right now I'm in love with 'The Giant Day' and 'Hilltop Procession' because the latter has the best fade-out of any song ever.
I also think 'The Gravity Car' is underrated.

I think the Peel Sessions version of "The Giant Day" is much better than the recorded version.
And yeah, "The Gravity Car" is pretty underrated.

I haven't heard all that many, but right now I'd go with 'Jumping Fences'. Predictable maybe, but it sure is great.

'Jumping Fences' for singing along as loud as you can.
'Grass Cannons' for entering another realm of ethereal beauty.
'NYC-25' for waving goodbye to loved ones as they melt over the horizon.
'Love Athena' for rocking out.

My favourite is Hideaway...it reminds me of summer festivals. Sitting on a gigantic field with 80,000 other people in the middle of the night, talking hippie-ish bullshit with people you've never seen before....aaaah

patman?
03-16-2005, 10:47 PM
Dear E6 Townhall Members:
This post is, in fact, not patman?, but instead, his psychologist.
After reading this post, he was trying to think of his favorite song. After hours of indecisiveness and blanken staring at the screen, he still couldn't come up with an answer. Then at the point where he had 25-30 songs all going through his head at one time in a sea of jumbled noise, he finally cracked.
I just visited him at the mental institute, and he's still unable to think of it, and is very unhealthy for his mental state each time he attempts thinking of one.
Sincerely,
Johnathan D. Rickelmayer

Unfortunately, I doubt it's one I'd get to see live, but man that riff epitomizes the crunch I crave to sooth my soul. Frosted Wheat may provide an alternative crunch that might to used to find a way to where they make the sounds we hear the sound (How can we liberate the world of sound?)
