for the past month, i've been rennovating a brand new clinic that my wife, shino, and i are opening. we were originally scheduled to open yesterday, but looks like it'll be sometime next week. the big job i've been doing the last week is installing hardwood flooring. it's ikea flooring, so it's all pretty much click-on, but shit this floor's giving me a hard time. anybody ever done this kind of job before? finnicky as hell. it's going to be a very large clinic, 1140 sq. ft. with six rooms and a large reception area. i've floored all six rooms and the hallway between them. the only thing left is the reception area, which shouldn't be too too terrible. it's going to look pretty amazing though once we're all finished. my acupuncture practice will move there and we're hiring massage therapists and another acupuncturist or two. i wish scott spillane was here helping. he's amazing at doing this kind of thing.

we painted the whole place too, which reminded me how well-matched painting rooms goes with drinking alcohol. probably why so many house painters i know are alcoholics. but man, drinking a beer or whiskey or anything after painting hits the spot like nothing else. i was trying to figure out what went with flooring the way drinking goes with painting and my conclusion was beef. had a big juicy burger after flooring one day and it was like sinking into abyss-land. went with it again yesterday and hit a barbeque joint after flooring and again, one word - perfect. today, i had some salmon and it just wasn't the same...

that's all.

HOCKEY! my brother and i used to play, and my dad coached us. we thought it'd be a fun father-son trip.

that'll be pretty amazing. i didn't 'get' hockey until i moved here. now i love it and watch it every chance i get. a friend introduced me to serious road hockey and ever since, i've been hooked. down in louisiana, we didn't get much ice, so it never really caught on.
definately look me up when you're here. i'll still be pluggin' away hopefully.

I saw the new orleans brass when they were here. We sat on the steps in the very front and got to see bodies smash again the glass 2 feet away from us. Now we have the new orleans hornets and I'm not too broken-hearted about losing a hockey team, even if it was the most bizarre thing to have here ever.
