according to their myspace page:
"The Minders would like to thank all of our friends, families and fans for their love and support. While there will not be any more Minders records or performances, we will still be making music and new friends, which is what it’s all about!"
This sucks! Despite a pretty uninterested vibe about the Minders by Townhallers, I consider them to be one of the best bands associated with e6.

Thats the rumors I had heard. Sucks, but at least Martyn will still be working on music. Isn't he working on something with Matt Dawson from of Montreal. And Rebecca is playing with Hungary Holler now.
this is quite depressing. At-least i can say i picked up golden street on vinyl 5 days before they broke up.

hi guys--
i spoke to martyn recently, and he said it is absolutely NOT the case, that the minders have broken up-- but he confirmed that rebecca did leave the band, events surrounding which were responsible for the post quoted above, saying they broke up (martyn did not approve that post, however).
martyn (who started the minders with me, as a recording project for the two of us for the first Minders single on Elephant 6 Records, but quickly fleshed it out into a live band with rebecca cole, jeff almond, and mark wilhite, by the time their second single came out) said he still plans on recording and performing songs under the name The Minders.
also, he is playing with a new band-- however i will leave it up to martyn to confirm or deny the above speculations about matt (who also rocks).
hope this is useful information,

IT IS!!
that's great news, to celebrate your post, I'm gonna play the minders playlist in my itunes right away! first song is Don't bring me down, you certainly didn't :)
Horray! If i wasn't at work right now i would so throw some on my minders onto the turntabel. Oh well, I'm still gonna play some at work even if people don't like it!

Live Minders is one of my favorite musical experiences. I was sad when I thought I could never have it again. Any news from a reliable source on the contrary is more than useful. Thanks for taking the time to share it Robert.

Incidentally, I would like to apologize for helping to spread the rumor that The Minders had broken up, without doing a basic fact-check with Martyn. I do feel bad about that. The truth is that I have emailed Martyn in the past requesting interviews, and he has not responded, so I did not think that he would respond to an inquiry as to the status of the band, particularly if the circumstances of that breakup were personal or a little too recent to want to be discussed. I tend to be the sort of person who doesn't bother people who don't seem to want to be bothered. Also, it was on their MySpace, so I took it as "official." Certainly I'm relieved to know that I haven't heard the last of one of my favorite bands.

Hi y'all,
I wanted to apologize to everyone for creating such confusion on the Minders myspace page. Martyn had told me the Minders were done some time ago, and I did not understand he had changed his mind. Even as recently as last night we ran in to each other and talked for a while, he never mentioned any of this - I feel badly for putting misinformation out there. I look forward to the next Minders record as much as anybody, I'm glad to hear it's happening!
Peace,
Rebecca
