every year Jeff Mangum contributes to an Instruments album, and in my opinion, ways that more or less undistinguishable...and yet every year Pitchfork announces this like it hasn't happened before or ever will again....the news not really being about a new album from a relatively unique band...but that Jeff has emerged from his closet.

i'm a big pitchfork supporter, but from an outfit of their stature I find it embarssing the way they treat Mangum like he's Syd Barrett...eating soda cans and talking to bicycles about milk and prawns....its's so silly. And i feel bad for the Instruments, who get treated this way, like backburner news in news about themselves.

sometimes i wish Jeff Mangum would team up and do a duet with Chris Martin from Coldplay and comepletely throw his credibility under the bus and end this voyeuristic nonsense.

I dunno, that might just make everyone reconsider their stance on Coldplay.

how about a collaboration with Scott Stapp from Creed...... if there's any way to destroy your reputation it would be doing anything with that douchebag.

Ode to the Sea (http://opticalatlas.com/sounds/Ode%20To%20The%20Sea.mp3) from the new album.... nice...

and ya'll should hear the Brigitte Fontaine cover they did on Build Your Army with Potatoes ( http://www.myspace.com/royalrhinoflyingrecords) ... it's cool and interesting and different

Maybe Kanye could sample Jeff and he could play the grammys with him.
