I'm not so sure running into Dottie or Jamey would do anything for my day that a good clean pear couldn't manage.

I am actually currently eating a pear, dearest Harnk. They do make the whole day lovely.

you guys are so nuts. why is everyone moving to athens? to generate a new breed of elephants? if so, i'm in. madeline plays there all the time. so i'll go just for that. but i mean... it's not like you're going to befriend all the people in your old and new favorite bands and have parties with them. why not all just move somewhere in like mississippi and start a brand new scene there. you can still trip your head off and make music north of the line or west of the river.

Around how much would it cost down there to have a 1 bedroom apartment? My cousin lives in or around Athens and says it is pretty cheap rent.

gezus. I checked out that craigslist link and saw that I could have a 4 bedroom apt for what I pay for a 1.5 br in Brooklyn.

holy shit, i pay $675/mo for a shared bedroom in a four-bedroom house in berkeley. for the same price, i could get this ENTIRE lovely house in athens: http://athensga.craigslist.org/apa/514410011.html

dude, you are paying way too much! i look on craigslist all the time for a place to live in berk since i'm moving there in a couple months, and $675 is rediculous for a shared bedroom. i live in downtown san francisco in a huge bedroom i share with someone and i pay $425, and i think it's way too much.

also, why IS everyone moving to athens? would you guys consider it if of montreal had never existed?

well, i'm in a house with four of my friends so really we're just paying one lump sum of $3600/mo, which is also ridiculous but i blame that on my landlord because she jacked up the price a couple hundred bucks once another group of people tried to compete with us to rent the house. fuck her. but it's a cool house, so i guess it's okay for now. i'm moving out once may rolls around, though.

I share my 1.5 br in brooklyn with mimi for 1450/mo. I WOULD SERIOUSLY CONSIDEr moving there if I could do film/tv work and get well paid for it, there.

the thing is athens is not some magical artists haven where you can make all your dreams come true. It just so happened that a group of creative individuals joined in this town. Most of it is a bunch of frat boys and nasty rednecks. There is somewhat of an "indie" scene but they all are pretentious assholes who focus more on their thrift store clothes than anything new and beautiful. I live and work in Athens, and I like it but by no means is it anything THAT special. Of course rent is cheap, it is just a little suburban college town, look anywhere in the country and you will find low rent in those types of areas anywhere.

yeah, that is redunkulous. i kind of wish i lived with ricky. the government is probably paying for it though because its really nice. where are you off to in may? i'll be trying to find a roommate around that time. let a sister know if you need a roomie.

i have no idea what i'm doing yet after may; one of my bffs might be transferring and if that works out, we'll be rooming. but if that falls thru, i might hit you up for sharing an apartment or something! my only condition is that i live on northside. i'm sick of southside.

Dear Prospective Athenians,

Please take note of this incredibly accurate depiction of musicians living in Athens. Every single one of them is a pretentious asshole. I know because I have met them, all of them, in dressing rooms at the Salvation Army.

Sincerely,
Apparently a Frat Boy or Nasty Redneck

P.S. Nothing new and beautiful? Do you do see live music around here? Ever? Really?

Ok dude, first off I have been a David Bowie fan since I was young. My dad has had all of his records. I got into Bowie hardcore about 2 years before I had even heard Of Montreal. Second off My sexual identity has nothing to do with any of this.

I think the residual effects of Pinnocho's shroom trip are still wearing off, I wouldn't blame him for his aggression, lol. When I said that you redeemed Athens Patrock, I was joking a little, but I meant that you are cool enough that the pretentious jerks of Athens fade away in comparison :)

PS the mention of Bowie made me think of your FAME tattoo. How is that doing man, been keeping it up?

patrock

got it touched up once and its been fine since september. I just never really associate with anyone in this town haha. I go to work and hang out with my roommates and a few close friends, never go to shows. When I did I just didn't dig it.

I saw you wore it when you sang onstage with the band.

patrock
01-02-2008, 11:35 PM
Yeah i never bought it. I actually stepped foot in American Eagle for the first time today. I just found it in my little brother's closet last year. I love it. It got the hole in it on my walk over to that show actually. It was a stupid drunken birthday thing and my friend and I were walking from a friend's dorm and i decided to jump a fence as a short cut and got snagged on the top. It was an insane/amazing night. I made a total idiot of myself, but it was a fun birthday. Apparantly according to my friend, I was walking up to random people going ITS MY BIRTHDAY GIVE ME A DRINK! and just sipping from random people's drinks. I also went up to a fat older girl and said ITS MY BIRTHDAY STOP JUST STANDING THERE and I kissed her cheek and walked off. WOW

Perfect sweater for all of that!
You're a man of great taste.
I have a misfits shirt that I used to wear a lot when I was 14 (14 years ago, ouch) that had a huge hole from jumping a fence on halloween. shit doesn't get better than that.
I got my sweater at Filene's Basement for something like $15.
Normally, I'm a medium, sometimes large. My sweater is size small though.
Who knew?
