3, 6, and 9 (odd little coincidence) certainly belong on there. Can't say I really listened to any of the others, other than Caribou's Andorra. I liked it a lot, but not one of the bests.

panda bear DEFINATELY belongs there. MIA does not. MIA is the most overrated artist lately, I'm surprised Kevin is into that.

he listed Gnarls and PBJ how ridiculous. New M Coast was 06 and that album is so nice.

Agreed a million times. I really dislike both the music and the way her fans use her thin layer of leftist politics to justify what's basically really shallow fashion oriented elitist-pop for the cooler-than-thou.

I saw her live in October and she was terrible. I like a handful of her songs on Arular, and I thought Kala was alright... but like, oh man. Her beats are all fractured live, completely killing the flow and the mood. And I swear, she spends more time yelling "WHAT THE FUCK IS UP!?" and "WHO WANTS TO GET ON STAGE TO DANCE WITH ME? I'M FROM ENGLAND! DO YOU KNOW OF THAT PLACE?" than actually performing.

That's a pretty mediocre list. I guess it could be worse, though. MGMT suck ass, M.I.A. is pretty bad, Animal Collective and the Fiery Furnaces haven't been good lately, Hawk and a Hacksaw aren't anything special, Deerhoof isn't too good anymore, and what little I've heard of the Liars album wasn't anything to write home about (which is a huge disappointment, given their previous album, which rules).

I shan't say anything bad about Robert Wyatt, though, and I'm not sure what the Caribou album is like, but it's probably better than the other shit on the list.

Animal Collective (Strawberry Jam is my #1) and Deerhoof are both about as good as they've ever been. Caribou's "Andorra" rules.

You guys are pathetic analyzing Kevin Barne's taste and even criticizing it!

Gah who honestly cares as long as he continues making amazing tunes who cares what he listens to even though I really dug every album except for two (Hacksaw and Robert Wyatt).

Why is it pathetic? If we count Kevin Barnes as one of our favorite musical artists then why shouldn't we also care about what he likes and is influenced by? What I don't get is why people like you feel that having any interest whatsoever in the personal preferences of other people is "pathetic."
